Level 2: Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace
The course provides essential knowledge and understanding of health and safety for employees working in any sector of business. This will enable them to contribute to the overall health and safety of the business.

The course is suitable for all employees in any workplace.
Course content
- Health & safety at work/health & safety law
- Prevention of accidents and ill health
- Risk assessment/first aid at work
- Personal protective equipment
- Workplace health, safety and welfare
- Work equipment/electricity/fire prevention
- Occupational health/hazardous substances
- Ergonomics and workstation design
- Manual handling/noise and vibration
- Transport at work
- Working at height
Course book and a comprehensive delegate pack will be provided. The course will be tailored as far as possible to delegates' work circumstances.
Duration
The course is of approximately 6 hours duration and conducted during one day. It is followed by a short multiple-choice test.
Qualification
All successful candidates will receive the Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace.
Progression
Level 3 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace.

Level 3: Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace
The aims of the course is to provide an understanding of the main concepts of health and safety, to promote the benefits of a health and safety culture and to clarify the roles and responsibilities of individuals and supervisors.
Who should attend?
This course has been designed for supervisors, middle management and the owners of a small business, or indeed anyone with a responsibility for health and safety It is intended to equip persons in a supervisory position with adequate knowledge to ensure that their company operates in a safe manner. A level 2 knowledge of health and safety is recommended, but not essential.
Course content
The course will be presented in a varied and interesting way and will include the following:
- The concepts of health and safety
- Workplace accidents and ill health
- Work equipment
- Legislation
- Manual handling
- Supervising health and safety
Course book and a comprehensive delegate pack will be provided.
Duration
There is a workbook to complete before the course which contributes towards the guided training hours required before sitting the exam. This should take around 8 hours to complete. Potential delegates should plan this work as soon as possible.
The course will be run over 2 days, concluding with a 2 hour multiple-choice exam.
Qualification
Successful candidates will receive the nationally recognised Level 3 Certificate in Health & Safety in the Workplace.
Progression
Level 4 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace.
